A list of the top ten products rejected by foreign customs has been made public by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
Deputy Director of NAFDAC’s Export Division, Ports Inspection Directorate, Sanwo-Olu O.
spoke at the third CHINET Aviacargo conference in Lagos under the title “Unlocking the Logistics Barrier to Improving Agro Exports Products.”. Sesame, beans, melon seeds, peanuts, smoked fish/fish meal, ginger, spices paper, hibiscus flower, palm oil, and ogbono are some of the food exports from Nigeria that have been most frequently rejected, according to NAFDAC.
Sanwo-Olu attributed the rejection to a number of factors, including a lack of adherence to standardized clearance procedures by stakeholders, including freight forwarders, cargo handlers, airlines/carriers, regulatory agencies, and ineffective inter-agency cooperation.
As trade increased, she urged stakeholders to make sure that export trade met the quality, standards, and quantity requirements of the country’s trading partner.
