Concerned by reports of no less than four defilement cases in a single week, Ogun State Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu has urged parents and guardians to adopt authoritative and encouraging parenting techniques that will, over time, help their kids and wards develop obedience, discipline, and confidence.
Following a complaint from a parent that Lawal Hammed, 20, of 5, ABA Quarters, Agbowa Road in Aiyepe-Ijebu, had canal knowledge of his 11-year-old daughter inside his bathroom, Alamutu was forced to issue this advice. The incident was reported at the Odogbolu Division in Ogun State, the command said, where a second instance of defilement occurred.
The parent further claimed that the suspect had been sexually harassing his daughter for a long time, but “he did not mention what steps he took to ward off the suspect from the girl,” according to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Omolola Odutola.
Odutola disclosed that the victim, who was underage, had been taken to the Odogbolu General Hospital for a physical examination, counseling, and emotional therapy.
