Some Primary school teachers in Ebonyi State are in excruciating pains following non-payment of their three months by the state government.
IGBERE TV correspondent gathered that the teachers have not been paid for the months of May, June and July.
According to one of the teachers who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, they have not been paid by the state government over what they tagged “ongoing verification exercise”.
“Since May this year, we have not been paid our salary and we have been going to work. You know what it means for you not to be paid for three months in this economic hardship”.
“The immediate past government was owning us one month salary before the present government entered into power. We were thinking that things will change since new government has entered but the condition remains the same”.
“We have family members and children that depend on us, the government should hear out cry and something please”, she told our correspondent.
Other teachers who spoke to our correspondent also lamented over the nonpayment of three months salary.
Efforts by our correspondent to get the reaction of the state government proved abortive as calls and messages sent to the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Governor Francis Nwifuru were not answered.
