Inter Miami forward, Lionel Messi has expressed happiness after leading his team to beat Cruz Azul 2-1 in Friday’s Leagues Cup tie.
Inter Miami opened the scoring through Robert Taylor before half time.
But Uriel Antuna equalized in the 65 minutes to restore parity.
However, Messi, who came off the bench in the second half, scored a brilliant stoppage time free-kick to ensure his Inter Miami defeated Cruz Azul at DRV PNK Stadium in Florida.
Reacting after the game, Messi in a post via his Instagram account, said it was very important for his team to start the week with a victory.
The Argentine wrote, “LET’S GOOOO!!! It was very important to start this week with a victory for us and also for all our people. And we go on.”
Messi joined Inter Miami as a free agent this summer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired
