Senate Gives First Reading To Kalu’s Bill Seeking To Amend The Coastal And Inland Shipping (Cabotage) Act

A bill sponsored by the Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu seeking to encourage domestic shipping companies in the country has been granted first reading on the floor of the Senate on Thursday.

The bill entitled: “Coastal and Inland Shipping (Cabotage) Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023 (SB.03) was introduced during plenary by the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele.

 

The bill subsequently scalded first reading after it was adopted by the Senators after it was put to a voice vote presided by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
