The 10th Ondo State House of Assembly was inaugurated on Saturday after the oath of office was taken by the 26 members following a proclamation by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
With the inauguration rituals presided over by the Assembly’s Clerk, Taye Jaiyeola, Olamide Oladiji, a lawmaker from Ondo East Constituency returning for a second term, was elected Speaker.
Abayomi Akinruntan, a third-term lawmaker from Ilaje Constituency 1, also emerged as the Assembly’s Deputy Speaker.
The Speaker assured the House that the 10th Assembly would fulfil its legislative obligations.
Oladiji praised Akeredolu for his capable leadership and vowed to ensure good ties between the legislative and the executive.
“I’ve been a part of this system for a while, and I am aware that the legislature and the executive must get along well if we are to make any real progress in this state,” he said.
