Dr Dikko Umar Radda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and winner of the 2023 governorship election in Katsina State on Monday took the oath of office as the state’s new Governor at Muhammadu Dikko Township Stadium, Katsina.
The former SMEDAN Boss, and one-time Aminu Masari’s Chief of Staff, was also a former Chairman of Charanchi Local Government Council in Katsina State.
Dikko’s main challenger in the Katsina 2023 gubernatorial election, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had earlier threatened to go to court to challenge the result but reneged the decision, making the coast clear for Dikko to enjoy his first term reign unchallenged.
The state’s Chief Judge, Danladi Abubakar, administered the oath of office to Dikko and his deputy, Faruk Jobe, between 10:40 am – 10:45 am, in the presence of the outgoing governor, Aminu Bello Masari, his deputy, Muntari Lawal, among other dignitaries.
Shortly after taking the oath, the outgoing governor, Masari, presented the symbol of authority to the newly sworn-in governor, Dr Dikko Radda, transferring the baton of leadership.
Four former governors, including that of Maradi, Niger Republic, graced the swearing-in ceremony of the new governor. They include former Governor Ibrahim Shema of Kataina, Abba Musa Rimi of Kaduna, and the governor of Maradi, Niger Republic, Abubakar Shuaibu, among others
