The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has kicked against any attempt by any individual or group to bring about any situation that could lead to scuttling or in any way postponing the scheduled handover of the leadership of the country to Bola Tinubu and state governors on May 29.
The group’s spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, while addressing a press conference on Thursday in Abuja, demanded that the Department of State Security (DSS) take urgent proactive action to checkmate the manoeuvres of the perpetrators of the evil scheme.
It stressed that the secret police should, most importantly, trace and expose the extent of the plot, arrest and prosecute not only the executors of the plot but its sponsors and all individuals or groups in any way linked to it.
The group said the call became imperative because it observed that the Nigeria Police headquarters recently confirmed that plots to scuttle the May 29th official inauguration of the new administration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and governors at the state level are real.
It added that on May 4, 2023, the Military High Command also alerted on plans to scuttle the handover and warned the plotters to shelve the idea.
