The road leading up to the corporate headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria was on Wednesday blocked as several protesters barricaded the premises calling for the release of the new naira notes.
The protesters under the aegis of the George Uboh Whistleblowers Network said the action became necessary as huge amounts of money had been spent to produce the new naira notes for the benefit of all Nigerians.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr. George Uboh called on CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele to immediately make the notes available to Nigerians.
They also added that they will seek the prosecution of Emefiele at the International Criminal Court for what they termed various cases of misconduct.
