Amid the leadership crisis rocking the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ambassador Okey Emuchay has claimed that two serving Governors from Southeast are working with the factional Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro to destroy Ohanaeze.
The former Nigeria High Commissioner to South Africa, Emuchay, made this shocking allegation while speaking with Vanguard.
He noted that some powerful forces, including two Southeast Governors, were behind Isiguzoro.
While the leadership crisis persists, Emuchay explained that legal action had been taken to stop Isiguzoro and his cohorts from parading themselves as executives of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
He added that the matter had been reported to the Department of State Services.
“Some powerful politicians, including two serving South East Governors, are bankrolling him and using him to destroy Ohanaeze and ridicule Igbo land”, he said.
Apart from Charles Soludo, the Governor of Anambra state and Hope Uzodinma of Imo state, seeking re-election in November this year, the Governors of Ebonyi (Dave Umahi), Abia (Okezie Ikpeazu), and Enugu states (Ifeanyi Uguanyi) are exiting the seat of power after completing two terms.
Despite the recent announcement of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as the successor of the late President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor, who died on December 26, 2022, the group had been enmeshed in a fresh leadership crisis
