LP crisis: Stop hobnobbing with Abure – Apapa tells Peter Obi, suspends five members

The leadership tussle in the Labour Party took another twist as Lamidi Apapa’s faction suspended five executive members, including the embattled National Chairman, Julius Abure.

Recall that the Abure-led faction suspended five executive members at Tuesday’s National Executive Council in Asaba, Delta State.

Lamidi Apapa, the party’s acting Chairman, Alhaji Salem Lawal, Favour Reuben, Gbenga Daramola, Samuel Akingbade and Mohammed Akali were affected.

In a letter addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, the Apapa’s faction asked the Police put Abure and his men in check against further deterioration of the crisis.

The embattled National Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi, signed the statement.

It described the NEC meeting in Asaba as illegal.

Apapa’s faction issued suspension to Abure and four other members of the Labour Party.

Justifying the reason for the suspension of Five members, Apapa said they were punished for attending the National Executive Council meeting convened recently by the embattled party chairman, Julius Abure, in Asaba, the Delta State.

It listed Ayo Olorunfemi, Deputy National Chairman, TUC; Ladi Iliya, Deputy National Chairman, NLC; Kennedy Chigozie Ahanotu, Deputy National Secretary; Dudu Manuga, National Women Leader and Innocent Okeke, National Vice Chairman South East as the affected members.

It added, “Peter Obi should stop hobnobbing with Julius Abure with the baggage of forgery, perjury and financial misconduct.

“Mr Peter Obi, the NLC & TUC leadership are now admonished to dissociate themselves from Julius Abure’s FORGERY, PERJURY AND CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY to avoid the shameful toga of Julius Abure’s corruption escapades”, the letter contained
