Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro says his side deserved more than they got from their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau.
The three-time African champions lost the first game last week Friday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
Peseiro’s changes however avenged that defeat, edging past the Djurtus 1-0 at the September 24 Stadium, Bissau on Monday night.
Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon netted the winning goal from the spot on the half hour mark after right-back, Bright Osayi-Samuel was brought down inside the box.
Peseiro said the Super Eagles could have scored more goals in both games but for their profligacy in front of goal.
“We could have won 6-1 in Abuja and 5-0 here in Bissau today because we played better on Friday than today. But that’s football, sometimes you play better than your opponents but the result will show otherwise,” Peseiro said in his post-match interview.
“We dominated the match more at home than today but we could not convert our scoring chances.”
The Super Eagles will travel away to Sierra Leone for their next match on Sunday, June 11, 2023.
