Ogunbote attributes 3SC loss against Akwa United to wastefulness

Shooting Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote blamed wastefulness and carelessness on the part of his players for the defeat to Akwa United in their Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 10 encounter on Sunday.

3SC held their own in the first half but conceded two quick goals after the break.

Ogunbote said his team was in control of the game and paid for the failure to convert their chances and loss of concentration.

“I think it was one of those things you expect in football. I didn’t expect us to lose the game, we had control of the game, but we had some careless moments and we paid dearly for it,” the gaffer said in his post match interview.

“You can see the game, sometimes, if you are careless and wasteful, you pay dearly for it. We had begging chances that we would have converted and which could have made the difference, but we didn’t,” he added.

Ogunbote is, however, upbeat his team would bounce back from the defeat.

“We move on from there and take the positive from the game. I am encouraged with the new shape of the team but we need to work on our commitment level”, he added.

Shooting Stars will host Plateau United at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan on Wednesday
