Impounded vehicles: FRSC advises traffic offenders to pay fines or risk litigation

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Zonal Commanding Officer in Charge of Osun, Oyo and Ondo States, Meshach Jatau, has called on owners of impounded vehicles within the zone to quickly pay their fines within the stipulated period.

The Zonal Commander also said that the prescribed fine is expected to be paid within seven days from the date the ticket was issued to any traffic offender.

Jatau stated this in an interview on Tuesday in Osogbo.

“The zone noticed with dismay that instead of paying the prescribed fines and retrieving vehicle documents, offenders abandoned their particulars/impounded vehicles in FRSC Offices at will.

“It is imperative for traffic offenders to do the needful in order to avoid any unpleasant consequences of litigation in respect to traffic offences.”

Jatau said traffic offenders in breach of the guidelines were liable to prosecution in any court of competent jurisdiction.

He called on traffic offenders as well as those whose vehicles were impounded at FRSC Offices in Osun, Oyo and Ondo States to pay their fines in order to retrieve their vehicle documents/impounded vehicles
