Zamfara State police command has received logistical support from Force Headquarters Abuja.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba deployed additional manpower, operational vehicles, weapons, personal protective equipment and anti-riot equipment ahead of March 18th governorship and State Assembly elections.
Addressing newsmen on Thursday at the State Police headquarters in Gusau, the State capital, the State commissioner of police, Kolo Yusuf said the command received assorted security items, including additional workforce.
Kolo Yusuf while expressing appreciation to the Inspector General of Police for his intervention, called on officers and men to redouble their efforts and work towards achieving the mandate of conducting credible, fair and hitch-free election in the state.
The commissioner also tasked Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, DPOs and all officers and men deployed for election security duty to be neutral, firm and steadfast to ensure that the Command consolidates on the success recorded during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Yusuf further charged the general public to be law abiding and desist from any act capable of causing unrest in the state, and at the same time, continue to pray for peaceful conduct of the elections in the state and the country in general
