Nigerian singer Tems, lost the Best Original Song award at the 2023 Oscars, IGBERETV reports.
The international sensation made history by being the first Nigerian artist to receive an Oscar nomination.
However, she was unable to secure a win at the 95th edition of the Oscars Academy Awards after she was nominated for her work as a songwriter on âLift Me Up,â a song featured in Marvelâs âBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever.â
Others nominated in the category were âApplauseâ from âTell It like a Womanâ by Diane Warren, âHold My Handâ from âTop Gun Maverickâ by Lady Gaga and BloodPop, and âThis Is a Lifeâ from âEverything Everywhere All at Onceâ by Ryan Lott, David Byrne, and Mitski.
The Oscar for Best Original Song went to âNaatu Naatuâ from âRRRâ, which was composed by MM Keeravani, with lyrics by Chandrabose and vocals by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava.
