Ahead of the March 11 governorship and state assemblies’ polls, the Rivers State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has dumped its governorship candidate, Beatrice Itubo and endorsed Siminialayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Labour Party chairman in the state, Dienye Pepple in the company of some local government party chairmen at a meeting on Tuesday said they are supporting a young and vibrant candidate who is from the South-East Senatorial District that has not produced a governor in the state.
They, however, asked “Obidient” in Rivers to vote for the LP State Assembly candidates in the elections.
They said the decision is in line with the values of equity, fairness and justice which propelled them to support the LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
