Following the death of Abia State Governorship Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prof Uchenna Ikonne, the party is set to conduct another fresh primary election on 4th February,, 2023 to get his replacement.
An impeccable source within the Abia state PDP hierarchy who pleaded anonymity has revealed to IGBERE TV that Hon Okey Igwe, member Representing Umunneochi State Constituency at the state Assembly, who was running mate to Prof Uchenna Ikonne is also to be replaced over alleged dual citizenship.
The source revealed that search for his replacement has already started.
“The party discovered that the running mate of Late Prof. Uchenna Ikonne has a dual citizenship . You know what the constitution says about having dual citizenship and running for Governorship or deputy”.
“The party has began to look for his replacement immediately,” the source said.
As at the time of filing this report, efforts by IGBERE TV to obtain reaction of Barrister Okey Igwe proved abortive as calls placed to his known contact did not connect.
