Abia North: Drama as LP supporters desert Opotoyom's campaign rally for Sen Orji Kalu's own in Ohafia

There was a mild drama at the venue of the Eziafor Ohafia campaign rally of the Labour Party candidate for Abia North Senatorial District, Nnamdi Iro Orji popularly known as Opotoyom.

The drama started when supporters of the Labour Party sighted the Chief Whip of the Senate and senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu at Eziafor Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area.

 

The villages upon sighting Kalu abandoned the campaign venue of the Labour Party candidate to cheer Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

An indigene of the community, Kalu Olugu told our correspondent that Senator Orji Kalu is the most loved politician in Abia State hence the action of the Labour Party supporters. He lauded Kalu for constructing the Eziafor Ohafia road, as well as other roads in Ohafia Local Government Area.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu gave our people free education when he was governor. He constructed the road in this community and many others in Ohafia including Asaga, Ndi Ibe, Amuma and Okon roads. We love him so much. No right thinking person would abandon him in 2023.”

A resident of the community, Madam Lucy Kalu, said: “We love Senator Orji Uzor Kalu because he performed very well as a governor and he is doing well as a senator. This was an opportunity to see him physically. You can see the joy in our community. It is a pleasure to have him. Our votes is for him because he gave my children free education and paid my salary regularly when he was governor.”

Our correspondent reports that Kalu, who is the APC senatorial candidate was in Ohafia South State Constituency for his re-election campaign rally. He visited five Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) wards, namely; Isiama, Ebem-Oha, Ohafor ward 2, Ohafor ward 1 and Owuwuanyawu.
