I have tirelessly, with intense accuracy, taken cognitive note of the magnitude of the campaign trains of all the governorship candidates in Abia State.
We have cried as citizens of the nation Nigeria in general and Abia State in particular that the cost of governance is high and should be cut down. Some adages go, “The proof of the pudding is in the eating.” “The smartness of a kitten is determined by the way it draws and drags the wrappers of the older woman that owns it.” First impressions, they say, matter.
Taking a close and discreet look at all the campaign councils of all the political parties vying for the governorship in Abia state and giving a clear analysis devoid of sentiment, favor, and bias, one can conclude that the way and manner, not neglecting the structure of the campaign councils could as well determine if such a governor candidate can be able to prune down the cost of governance.
The candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, happens to be the only candidate with the tiniest number of campaign council members or teams, while others have a whole lot of people on their teams. If I may ask, how much do they use to settle all these people daily, and where does the money come from? Be that as it may, I think and I strongly believe that this young, energetic gubernatorial candidate, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, is already showing the people of Abia State that he can cut down the cost of governance because the taste of the pudding is in the pudding; the crowd is not what Abia State needs now, since both a large and small crowd can achieve the same results, why take the large crowd to spend more money when the small crowd with little money can still achieve the goal?
I think Abians should see Mascot Uzor Kalu as someone who can reduce the cost of governance in Abia State, coupled with his myriad of experiences in governance— the private and public sectors, both internationally and locally.
