83-Year-Old Journalist Named Oldest Graduating Student In UNILAG

Veteran journalist, Dayo Michael Duyile, 83, has been named the oldest graduating student (male) from the University of Lagos.

According to Channels TV on Wednesday, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, disclosed this on Tuesday during a pre-convocation press conference at the UNILAG Senate Chambers.

 

“The oldest graduating student is (Male) Duyile, Dayo Michael who obtained his Ph.D. in Mass Communication at the age of 83,” Ogunsola said.

“Incidentally, Duyile, Dayo Michael was the Daily Times of Nigeria journalist who covered the Opening Ceremony event of the University of Lagos on October 3, 1962,” she added.

Meanwhile, the oldest female graduating student has been revealed to be Okonji Bridget Obiageli, 82, who bagged an M.Ed. in Guidance and Counselling.

UNILAG is set to hold its 53rd convocation ceremony next Wednesday.
