Abia APP Ward-Round Tour: "Aba Needs Redesignation And A Satellite City For Decongestion"—Mascot Uzor Kalu

The real estate experience of the governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in Abia State for the 2023 elections, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, could come in handy for the remodelling and revamping of Aba and tackling the incessant flooding of the city. This comes as he has maintained his stand that the development plan of the commercial city is now obsolete and therefore needs a redesign.

Speaking at the ongoing APP’s ward-round tour in the Aba North L.G.A. yesterday, Chief Kalu, who is a home-grown Aba boy (Nwa-Aba) and has a chain of businesses that span into the real estate sector, stressed the need to redesign the city with modern 21st-century development plans while noting that building a new satellite city within the suburb of Aba will allow for the decongestion of the “Enyimba” city and revive its economic activities as a trade hub.

“If you look at Aba, the development plan for it by Sam Mbakwe in the old Imo state is now obsolete. It did not take into consideration the population density of today.

“When I was a Chief of Staff, I did my research and found out that the Ukwu Mango axis was supposed to be a water collection center like a mini-dam, and that is why the Ariaria axis keeps getting flooded anytime it rains.

“So, we need to redesign the city by first decongesting it, then fixing the drainage system, and turning it into a vibrant trade hub.”

According to the former Abia state Chief of Staff, the proposed satellite city of Aba that his administration will build if elected into office will be within the axis of Isiala Ngwa, Obingwa, Ugwunagbo, Osisioma, and Ukwa.

Osusu II ward 4, Osusu I ward 3, Old GRA ward 7, and Eziama ward were the ABSIEC wards that Chief Kalu and his campaign train, along with Hon. Christopher Igboko and Hon. Comr. Ujo Nlonlo Justice, APP’s candidates for Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency and Aba North State Assembly Constituency, respectively, visited.
