Ebonyi Governorship Candidate, Engr Nwandugo Condemns Attack On Prof. Odoh

The Governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in Ebonyi State, Engr. Chukwuma Awuregu Nwandugo has condemned the attack on the Governorship Candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Professor Benard Odoh.

In a statement made available to IGBERE TV, the former Commissioner for Works in Ebonyi State said attack is barbaric and anti-people and does not in any way foster Nigeria’s nascent democracy.

He said the attack on Prof. Odoh, is strange to Ebonyi politics and does not in any way represent the dreams and chastity of Ebonyi founding fathers, who laboured vigorously and fought for the creation of this state some years ago.

According to the statement, “the attack is evil. The attack is undemocratic. The attack is wicked. The attack is alien to our people and, is also capable of heating up the polity. I advise Ebonyi people to reject every attempt by the enemies and all haters of peace of the state, to disrupt the minutest peace currently being enjoyed in the state.”

The statement reads,

“I, Engr. Chukwuma Awuregu Nwandugo, the Action Alliance Governorship candidate for the 2023 election, in Ebonyi State, hereby condemn at its entirety the attack on the former Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government and the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Prof Benard Odoh. The said attack is barbaric and anti-people and does not in any way foster Nigeria’s nascent democracy.”

“I have said it before and I’m saying it now. My Governorship bid is not for Izzi alone. It’s for Izzi; it’s for Ezza; it’s for Edda; it’s for Okposi; it’s for Ehugbo; it’s for Ngbo; it’s for Nkalagu; it’s for Ikwo; it’s for Effium; and all other tribes and clans in the entire 13 local government areas. It is for both the poor and the rich in Ebonyi State, irrespective of religion and party. It’s for the entire state.”

“It’s a game, that I believe all candidates (irrespective of party and clan) should be allowed to freely present themselves for Ebonyians to select whoever they want. It’s not a do-or-die affair. This is my understanding about democracy and genuine electioneering process. The epoch is constitutionally supposed to be a time for the residents and the electorate to access who they want to lead them based on credibility, integrity and competence.”

“This is a time constitutionally presented to Ebonyians, to sample the list of Governorship candidates and make their choice.”

“I have an orientation and a training; and people who know me can attest to the fact that I’m not sectional. I also do not have links to anybody attacking anybody in Izzi land and across the state.”

“The attack, today (Thursday, October 20, 2022), on Prof. Odoh, is strange to Ebonyi politics and does not in any way represent the dreams and chastity of Ebonyi founding fathers, who laboured vigorously and fought for the creation of this state some years ago.”

“The attack is evil. The attack is undemocratic. The attack is wicked. The attack is alien to our people and, is also capable of heating up the polity. I advise Ebonyi people to reject every attempt by the enemies and all haters of peace of the state, to disrupt the minutest peace currently being enjoyed in the state.”

“I once again condemn this destardly act and I call all well-meaning Ebonyi people to do same, in order to collectively save the state from being further mortgaged, even before and after 2023.”

“Ebonyi is, and should be free for all residents irrespective of party, religion and class to legitimately move around and conduct his lawful enterprise. Anybody is free to carry out his legally and lawfully business of electioneering campaign, as is enshrined by the Nigerian law.”
