As part of the ongoing efforts to resolve the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the general election, the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) will hold a crucial meeting with Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike on Tuesday, Igbere TV has learnt.
It was gathered the BoT members led by their acting Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, are expected in Rivers in the afternoon for the crucial talks.
It was not clear whether the meeting will hold in Government House, Port Harcourt, or at the country home of Wike in Rumueprikon, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.
A source, who spoke in confidence, confirmed that the members were being expected in the afternoon.
However, a party source, who also spoke in confidence, said the meeting would not change the demand of Wike’s group that the National Chairman of the party Iyochia Ayu must resign for true reconciliation to begin.
“There is no number of meetings that will make Wike and his group change their position that Ayu must go before the real talks will begin,” he said.
Wike and his team recently met in Enugu State where the Rivers Governor reportedly told them the outcome of his meeting with the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.
Other Governors present at the meeting were Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Samuel Ortom Benue; Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).
The G5 Governors and other PDP leaders supporting them have insisted that following the emergence of Atiku as the presidential candidate, Ayu must resign to allow someone from the South take over his position in the interest of justice and equity.
