Students Union Leaders in Abia pledge their Total support for Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, IgbereTV reports
Last night, a delegation comprised of leaders of the Students Union Governments of all Tertiary Institutions in Abia State, the leadership of the National Association of Abia State Students (NASS), and representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) paid a solidarity visit to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu at the Governor’s Lodge Aba.
The Students Leaders, led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Matters, Comrade Chibuzo Ndom, came with a simple but powerful message for the Governor: as the countdown to the 2023 elections heats up, the Students Union Community in the State is solidly behind the Governor and his party, the PDP in Abia State.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu thanked the students for their sound judgment and assured them that his administration will continue to prioritize issues concerning student welfare in the state. He advised them not to make themselves available to politicians who only want to use them. Human Shields are elected only to be abandoned later. He specifically warned Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike students against any plans to block the Umuahia Ikot Ekpene highway as part of the anti-ASUU strike demonstration. He also used the opportunity to call on the Federal Government and ASUU to consider the students’ plight and end the strike.
