Gov. Ikpeazu Receives New GOC of 82 Division Of The Nigerian Army (Photos) 

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu earlier today received in audience, the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army Enugu, Major General Umar Musa.

Major General Musa took over from Major General Taoreed Lagbaja who is now the GOC, 1 Mechanized Division, Kaduna.

Abia is one of the states under the military jurisdiction of the 82 Division, Enugu and the GOCs work closely with the Governors of the states on security related issues.

Upon assumption of office, the new GOC pays courtesy visits on the Governors of the states that are within the coverage of the Division as part of their familiarization tours of the Division.

Governor Ikpeazu welcomed the new GOC and assured him of the usual cooperation of the Government and People of Abia State in the discharge of his current assignment. The Governor informed him that Abia was substantially safe except for a few places especially around Umunneochi and Ohafia LGAs where there are pockets of security breaches and violent crimes, and urged him to rise to the challenge of battling the challenge of kidnapping in those areas.

The new GOC was accompanied by the Commander of the 14 Brigade, Ohafia, Brigadier General Adegoke Adetuyi and other senior officers while the Honorable Commissioner for Homeland Security, Hon Sopuruchi Bekee was present at the event.
