Supreme Court Judgement Tears Ebonyi PDP Apart As Sen. Ogba Insists On Regaining Governorship Ticket

By Wisdom Nwedene

The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ebonyi State Chapter has taken new dimension as Senator Obinna Ogba has insisted that will reclaim his mandate through court.

IGBERE TV had reported that five Justices of the Supreme Court, on September 14, declared Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii as the authentic guber candidate of the PDP, dismissing the judgement of the Appeal Court that recognized Senator Ogba.

In Ebonyi State PDP, senior players have been tagged to Ogba’s camp while junior players have been tagged Odii’s camp which has created division in the party.

On Sunday, PDP stakeholders believed to be loyal to the Senior players (Sen. Ogba’s Camp) visited the the Senator at his campaign office in Abakaliki.

Our correspondent gathered that during the visit,Senator Ogba said he will make it in the pending case at the Supreme Court, reassuring them of victory come 2023.

Senator Ogba revealed that the names of the candidates in his camp came out on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to him, “My reason for calling this meeting is to thank all of you for your support and your solidarity with my humble self. I want to assure you that you will not be disappointed.

“Let me tell you, anything God does not know does not happen and it does not exist. My message is very simple: if it is the wish of God that I will be there, nobody can take it away.

“What has happened is a very simple something. We have two cases in the Supreme Court: one has been decided and it’s not in our favor. We still have one in the court.

“But what is important is that as of today, the three Senate candidates, the six House of Reps candidates and the 24 House of Assembly candidates are in my group.

“As it stands now, time is no longer on the side of the other group. They can no longer appeal. I am not a desperate politician. If it pleases God that the second appeal did not favor me, I will be happy because all the Senate, House of Representatives and the House of Assembly candidates are mine.

“I belong to the common people and the hope of a common man is the judiciary. I still have hope in the judiciary.”
