Governor Okezie Ikpeazu says his administration will always keep the people of Umuahia South close to his heart.
He assured that his administration is desirous to make the Ubakala Regional Water Scheme become functional before his exit as Governor.
Governor Ikpeazu who disclosed this while receiving the traditional Rulers and stakeholders of Umuahia South LGA comprising of the 3 Clans of Umuopara, Ubakala and Olokoro who paid a solidarity visit to him at his Umuobiakwa hometown said that his administration will maximize the dry season and complete all projects it started including the Umuopara and Ubakala Ring roads as well as the Old Umuahia-Ubakala Expressway Junction as an extension of Aba Road project in Umuahia.
He explained that his administration has always found trust, support and competence in the people of Umuahia South and described them as a stabilizing factor not only in the politics of Ikwuano/ Umuahia bloc but in the state and urged them to sustain it because their upcoming generations will reap the dividends.
The Governor, who advised the people of Umuahia South to adopt a policy of electoral vigilance and work seriously in their various units and wards where the political strength lies, said that he is much convinced of the support of the people in the 2023 general elections that will lead to the victory of all PDP candidates.
Governor Ikpeazu also assured the people of Umuahia South that they will be carried along on all issues and positions in the State and revealed that he takes pride in the activities and achievements of the Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon Jerry Uzosike who has built relationships through legislative experience that has given PDP a platform of victory and extolled the stakeholders for guiding him aright.
He said that the Local government has leaders who have shown capacity in leadership like in the case of their son and the Secretary to Government, Barrister Chris Ezem while thanking them for their visit which is an encouragement to him.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman Umuahia South Stakeholders Forum – Pastor Emeka Inyama said that their visit was to reassure the Governor of their support, cooperation and loyalty aimed at delivering all PDP candidates in next year’s elections because the Council still stands as an indivisible entity.
In his own remarks, the Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Jerry Uzosike noted the many dividends he has brought to his constituents which have ameliorated their sufferings while assuring of their commitment to work for the victory of the PDP candidates during next year’s elections.
Contributing, the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Chris Ezem expressed gratitude to the Governor Ikpeazu for finding the people of Umuahia South worthy to serve in his administration stating that they have reciprocated the gesture by maintaining calmness in the quest for elective positions not minding their eminent qualifications while promising greater number of votes in the forthcoming elections.
A Political Leader from the area and the pioneer Chairman of the PDP in Abia State, Chief Tony Ukasoanya and the third Deputy Chairman, State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Godfrey Onwuka extolled Governor Ikpeazu for his activities in national political issues which has given Igbos a voice as well as in the State especially by bequeathing to Abians the first ever Flyover.
They appealed for the completion of the Isicourt – Ubakala road, Umuopara, Ubakala Ring roads, rehabilitation of Holy Ghost Ahiaukwu Olokoro Road and the Obizi – Amakama road as they are determined to work with the PDP that has put smiles on their faces.
Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Okey Ahiwe, Traditional Rulers, Political leaders from the Local Government and Presidents General of the Three Clans in the area were present at the event.
