The people of Bende Local Government Area of Abia State have demanded the immediate removal of the Executive Chairman of the LGA, Hon Chief Emmanuel O N Onwuchekwa over abysmal failure, executive rascality and anti party activities.
Several respondents who spoke with IgbereTV lamented that Bende LGA under Onwuchekwa has become a laughing stock in the state given the abysmal performance of the current administration and demanded his resignation.
Since the inauguration of the Onwuchekwa led administration in 2020, the chairman has not executed any major project despite receiving monthly allocation running into Millions of Naira.
A government House source told IgbereTV that the Chairman recieves monthly Project funds apart from his Security vote, Imprest, internally generated revenue and other accruals.
Reacting to the Nomination of Hon Onwuchekwa for award by Local Government Workers Merit Award, on Wednesday, the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the Party in the Local Government Area, Jany Ujunwa said there was no project executed by the Chairman to warrant such nomination.
Ms Ujunwa further accused Chief Onwuchekwa of using funds allocated for Projects for night clubbing.
According to her, “for one year and 8 Months in Office, he has no single project in his name in Bende.”
“To the best of my knowledge an award of excellence is given to exceptional personalities with sterling qualities, who have distinguished themselves excellently in service.”
“Please let’s be frank and candid on what basis is an obvious and glaring failure politically, administratively and socially be honored? A man who brutally fumbled and crumbled in His Local Government Area, without a substantial impact or any meaningful achievement, Are we celebrating mediocrity, incompetence and bundle of misfortune.”
“Let’s do a constructive analysis as we compare and contrast between these political scholars, the likes of Honourable Ifeanyi Madu( Chairman Umunneochi LGA), Hon Emmanuel C. Ebere (Chairman Aba South) and Hon Prince Dan Kalu( Chairman Arochukwu) these men set unbeatable records in their different LGA’s and epitome of political misfit( HON ONWUCHEKWA EMMANUEL), honestly there is no ground for comparison as the difference is as crystal clear as the difference between the dead and the living. ”
“I believe that what doing is what doing well, we can’t join the band wagon of misinformed society to celebrate a man who is an absolute reflection of unquantifiable failure in all ramifications.”
“If it could it be possible for the good of the society and posterity, I will move a motion that this unmerited conferment of award be withdrawn as this is a complete show of disgrace and utter embarrassment.”
“He has fallen out with the Leaders and Stakeholders that brought him to power.”
Another source who spoke to IGBERE TV on the condition of anonymity also accused the chairman of anti party activities.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, efforts by IgbereTV to get the reaction of Chief Onwuchekwa proved abortive as calls to his known lines were not answered.
