Abia-born medical doctor and politician, Dr. Uchenna Onubogu says the Umunneato bloc of Abia Central Senatorial District is grossly marginalized by the All Progressives Congress in the state.
Onubogu in a chat with journalists on Monday evening in Abuja accused a factional governoship candidate of the party, Ikechi Emenike of disrespecting the Ngwa people by denying them the senatorial ticket of the party.
According to him, Emenike was promoting an Umuahia agenda by cornering the governoship and senatorial tickets of the APC, thereby forcing party leaders like Senator Nkechi Nwaogu out of the party.
“Ikechi Emenike has destroyed APC in Abia State due to his selfish ambition. How can someone who is not popular even in his own community win an election for the party? He gave himself the governoship ticket which Dr. Uche Ogah is still challenging in court and also gave the senatorial ticket to someone from the Umuahia bloc of Abia Central Senatorial district.
“Does it mean Ikechi Emenike doesn’t understand politics? We have two component areas in Abia Central.We have Umunneato which consist of Isialangwa North and South and Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Areas. The Umuahia bloc has Umuahia North and South and Ikwuano. Ikechi Emenike is from Umuahia, instead of him to support someone from Umunneato, he ignored our leaders including Senator Nkechi Nwaogu.
“How can Abians trust Ikechi Emenike? We are going to teach APC a bitter lesson in 2023 for disrespecting us. We cannot trust someone that is so divisive and destructive. Even after sidelining us, he even betrayed his brother, Sam Onuigbo by promising him the senatorial ticket before handing it over to Emeka Atuma, all from Umuahia axis. The same man nominated his brother as a minister, made his wife an Ambassador, his PA is a House of Representatives candidate. He is a selfish and self centered politician without bearing. He has chased many people out of the party including our illustrious daughter, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu. We are waiting for him at the poll,” he said.
