2023 : Anambra Women Unite For Senator Ekwunife At Annual Conference (Photos) 

The atmosphere was charged with euphoria and conspicuous enthusiasm as thousands of Anambra women surged to receive the Senator representing Anambra Central, Senator Uche Ekwunife upon her arrival at the venue of the annual “Agulu Annual Women’s Conference”.

The conference forms part of the activities marking the Annual South Eastern Women’s Congress known as the “August Meeting”, a homecoming event whereby Igbo women in the diaspora and the cities return to their matrimonial villages to engage with their local counterparts to discuss matters about the community development, Conflict Management, human development, and other socio-economic and cultural initiatives.

 

Gathered at Congress on Saturday were women majority of whom had benefited from Ekwunife countless philanthropic as well as Senatorial empowerment initiatives.

In an ecstatic show of appreciation and solidarity, the elated women rendered a standing ovation characterised with a round of applause and loud chants of praises to Senator Ekwunife as she disembarked from her vehicle and headed towards the event arena.

Flanked by her members of her team Ekwunife,Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology was showered with encomiums as the women recounted the various occasions Ekwunife had intervened to assist in solving their economic and social challenges.

In her brief remarks, Senator Ekwunife enjoined the women to always uphold their fundamental positions as mirrors of their various households.

Ekwunife a Chieftain and Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Senatorial elections, urged the women to work hard and pray for God’s intervention in the state and the country at large, adding that the 2022 August Meeting will bring forth fortunes and positive ideas that will improve living conditions within the community and its environs.

She said; “With your support at the Senate, I have been able to facilitate various key infrastructural development projects to our senatorial zone, from the construction of roads, renovation and building of our schools, skill and empowerment training to the distribution of vehicles just to name a few.

“My commitment towards women’s welfare and empowerment is total, I can assure that things can only get better considering myriads of programs and projects on the pipeline.

Responding, the women took turns to appreciate Senator Uche Ekwunife for the various social schemes and community driven projects without which the senatorial zone would have remained in the woods politically.

Notable among the landmark interventions listed by the women was the rate at which she settles young school leavers through gainful employment opportunities, which is a life long investment and cherished family lifeline according to the speakers.

Other notable achievements of the senator as narrated by mostly widows were the building and furnishing of houses for the homeless; a gesture that restored hope to many families that were previously helpless and living in destitution.

The farmers present stated that they now convey farm produce conveniently from the hinterlands to the markets in urban areas which accounted for improved profit margins as a result of access roads built by Ekwunife.

The group of local Agricultural practitioners known as “Grassroots canvassers for good governance” vowed to re-elect Ekwunife stating that the Anambra Central Senatorial seat remains intact for Ekwunife’s return to the National Assembly.

During the course of narrating Ekwunife’s scholarships and training on special skills among other benefits by the women, the Senator beckoned the women to a halt stating that it is the responsibility of leaders to take care of their constituents, while assuring them of her readiness to continue facilitating more human imparting interventions.
