The former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, said on Wednesday the crisis in the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was more institutional rather than a personal feud between him and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, IgbereTV reports
The ex-governor stated this when he featured in a Channels Television programme, Politics Today.
Shekarau dumped the APC for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) headed by another former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Tuesday.
The former minister insisted that the crisis was caused by people who were power hungry.
Two factions loyal to Ganduje and Shekarau had been locked in a battle for the control of APC in the state.
The Federal Capital Territory High Court had in November last year handed over the control of APC in the state to Shekarau’s faction after nullifying the congresses supervised by Ganduje’s faction.
The governor’s faction later challenged the ruling at the Court of Appeal.
In a ruling delivered on February 17, the appellate court set aside the lower court’s ruling which recognised Shekarau’s faction as the authentic one in the state
