The South-West Governors Forum has slammed the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Baba Alkali, over the interference and disrespect meted to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu regarding the ongoing land case at Magodo Phase 2 Estate area of the state, IgbereTV reports.
The governors expressed their displeasure in a statement by their Chairman and Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, titled, ‘Southwest Governors: Police Officer’s Disrespect To Sanwo-Olu An Unacceptable Intrusion …say Lagos must deploy Amotekun now’, on Wednesday.
According to the Forum, the defying of Sanwo-Olu’s order by a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, to vacate the Magodo Phase 2 Estate area of the state as an unacceptable intrusion.
IgbereTV Nigeria gathered that the CSP alleged that his team was in the estate in order to enforce the IGP’s orders and had not been directed to leave.
However, Akeredolu condemned the action while calling on the IGP to explain the reason for the intrusion
