Actress Regina Askia Celebrates Her 54th Birthday (Photos)

Former Nollywood actress, Regina Askia Williams took to her Instagram handle to celebrate her 54th birthday today 16th December 2021, IgbereTV reports.

She shared a new photo of herself with the caption;

“My “Thankful Thursday” birthday is here and I’m grateful. For both the trials and the joys, and all the moments that have indeed taken my breath away. It’s been a long, long road to this day and in all things, we give thanks.

Imaobong Regina Askia popularly known as Regina Askia is from Ukanafun, a small village in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. She completed both her primary and secondary school education in Lagos State, Nigeria and graduated from the University of Lagos with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.

In 1989, Regina Askia contested and won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, a beauty pageant hosted by Silverbird Television. In 1990, Regina Askia represented Nigeria at Miss Charm International beauty pageant held in Leningrad, Russia and came out as First Runner-up. Regina Askia also made history by becoming the first Nigerian at Miss International in Japan with outstanding traditional costume.

In 1993, Regina Askia joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) and acted in her first television soap opera “Fortunes”.

In 1995, Regina Askia rose to fame after acting in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Most Wanted” where she acted as a disguised male armed robber. The movie won her an award for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the African Movie Academy Awards.

Regina Askia has acted in over 100 Nollywood movies which include Slave Warrior, Festival of Fire, Dangerous Babe, Man Snatcher, Full Moon, High Way to the Grave, Most Wanted, Fortune, etc.

Regina Askia won several awards in her acting career which include Best Actress of the Year at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, Most Promising Actress in Nigeria at the City People Entertainment Awards, Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Best of Nollywood Awards, Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards and Most Prominent Actress in Nigeria at Afro Hollywood awards.

However, she quit acting and relocated to the United States of America and became a full time registered nurse. Regina Askia is married to American Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Williams, nephew of Ron Everette and grandson of Fess Williams; together the couple have two children – daughter Teesa Olympia and son Rudolph Junior.
