The management of the Federal Polytechnic Oko has announced that in view of the forthcoming Anambra state election, it has declared a recess for both staff and students of the institution with effect from Thursday 4th. Igbere Tv reports.
This was made known in a letter which was signed by the AG. PRO of OKOPOLY Mr Chijioke Ibeziako and obtain by IgbereTv.
The school also stated that students and staff are, therefore, advised to vacate the campus, stressing that the date of resumption date is on November 9th .
Why Fears of Election Chaos Are Overblown in OKopoly
As at Tuesday, several heavy booted soldiers were seen parading at Oko communities, this created fears in the minds of the populace. Several arrest have been reportedly made by security agents in Oko-a source who crave anonymity alleged.

A senior lecturer in public administration department Okopoly who spoke with our reporter says there is anxiety in the forth coming election. “The anxiety is definitely higher than I’ve seen in all the previous elections held in Anambra, this is a test of might between Federal government, state government and the IPOB movement,” He stated.
As at the time of writing this report, the prices of transportation in Oko, Ekwulobia and its environ has flared-up because many residents including students are leaving the state for reasons best known to them.
Police Vows to protect voters, democratic values in Anambra election
Meanwhile, despite a call to boycott the Anambra state election by the Indigeneous people of Biafra, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali Baba has warned non-state actors to steer clear from Satuday’s election in Anambra State.
While stating that the heavy deployment of security to Anambra for Saturday’s election was not meant to scare voters, he said the police would deal decisively with anybody who would try to foment trouble during the exercise.
