The General Manager of Traffic and Indiscipline Management Agency, Abia State (TIMAAS), Commander Bright Chinedu Ikeokwu has been voted 2021 State Traffic Manager of the Year.
Engr. Ikeokwu polled 48,589 votes, that’s 52% of all votes to beat three other nominees, namely, Baffa Danagundi, 19,754 votes, Godwin Nyiam, 12, 846 votes, Olajide Oduyoye, 11, 775
votes respectively.
The award is Endorsed by the African Union, African Film Institute.
As the Chairman of TIMAAS, Engr. Ikeokwu has rid many streets in Abia State of all forms of street trading including popular Opobo Junction area at Ogbor Hill.
Speaking with IgbereTV crew on Sunday when the Executive Director of the popular online medium, Emeh James Anyalekwa led a crew to pay him a visit ahead of the presentation of the Award, Engr. Ikeokwu said he has no preferential treatment to anybody.
He said there was a time his mother broke the traffic law, he ordered that his mom should be be moved to the office.
On the relationship between him and his workers, Engr. Ikeokwu said he has a good working relationship with his workers.
He, however, said the greatest challenge is those that think that they are close to you and would want to use the opportunity to disobey the law. He noted that there is no sacred cow and would always work to ensure that Abia State remains one of the best in the country.
The Award will be presented to him on 2nd November, 2021 at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja.
Recall that a renowned Philanthropist, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu (Obi Cubana) and Former Rivers State first lady, Dame Judith Amaechi, were also voted ‘Man of the Year’ and ‘Woman of the Year’ respectively.
Governor Seyi Makinde Of Oyo State, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, and Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom were also voted Governors of the Year in different categories.
