The Nigerian Government may declare a ‘state-of-emergency’ in Anambra due to the incessant attacks and killings going on in the state, IgbereTV reports.
Nigeria’s Attorney-General, Abaubakar Malami hinted this during an interview in Aso-rock shortly after a Federal Executive Council meeting.
The minister told reporters that the government is very determined to ensure a hitch-free election in the state.
“When our national security is attacked, and the sanctity of our constitutionally guaranteed democracy is threatened, no possibility is ruled out,” he said.
IgbereTV recalls that Anambra state scheduled to have its Gubernatorial elections in November, an activity now being threatened by the activities of pro-secessionists and ‘unknown gunmen’.
A High profile assassination, kidnaps, mayhem and arson have occurred in the state.
Dr. Chike Akunyili, the husband of late NAFDAC DG, Dora Akunyili, was gruesomely murdered by unknown assailants about a week ago. His death was condemned by the state governor, Willie Obiano.
