The Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) has denied involvement in the murder of Dr Chike Akunyili yesterday 28/09/2011 in Anambra.
The Group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful made this known in a statement released to journalists on Wednesday.
His word…..”We have no hands in the political killings going on in Biafra land.
We have at several times raised the alarm that some cruel politicians are hiding under the cloak of the situation in Biafra land to eliminate their political enemies and blame it on IPOB.”
IGBERE TV had reported that a yet-to-be identified gunmen reportedly killed Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband to late former Information Minister, Prof. Dora Akunyili.
IGBERE TV gathered that he was murdered at Umuoji in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State on Tuesday evening.
Though details of the incident are still sketchy, a source close to the family said the deceased was still at the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA) where the late Dora was honoured some hours before he was killed.
