The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engineer David Nweze Umahi has congratulated the Catholic Community in Ebonyi State on the appointment of Monsignor Peter Nworie Chukwu as the new Bishop of the Diocese by the Vatican Igbere TV reports.
Governor Umahi who paid glowing tributes to the laity and clergy of the Roman Catholic Church in the State for the seamless way the new Lordship was chosen without rancor, said he was not surprised as the Church has once again proven that it is well organized.
He lauded the new Bishop for being chosen among the pool of Clergy for the Mitre and prayed to God to strengthen him while he labors in his vineyard.
“On behalf of the first family, government and the entire good people of Ebonyi State, I congratulate the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki on the emergence of a brand new Bishop in the person of Monsignor Peter Nworie Chukwu who has been personally chosen by God to take the spreading of his gospel to the next level.”
Governor Umahi also congratulated Bishop emeritus Michael Nnachi Okoro on his meritorious retirement in good health and prayed to God to preserve him to continue to function as a stock of knowledge to the body of Christ and humanity.
“We also congratulate our Father in the Lord, most Distinguished Bishop emeritus, Dr. Michael Nnachi Okoro on his successful handing over to a successor. We pray to God to strengthen and preserve you to continue to serve as Succour to humanity”
