Youths under the aegis of Ebonyi Youths Forum have lambasted former Aide to Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri over his comment to Governor David Nweze Umahi.
In a statement made available to IGBERE TV by Fidelis Orji Nkama,
Secretary to Ebonyi Youths Forum described Omokri as a mentally deranged person whose opinion has already been visited by deserving unsupportive responses from his audience.
The group noted that it is not in Umahi’s character to abuse elders and leaders.
The group further challenged Omokri to come out clean and make his mission clear to the general public instead of hiding under flimsy and insignificant assumptions to darken counsel without knowledge.
The statement reads,
“The attention of Ebonyi Youths Forum has been drawn to a social media post credited to Reno Omokri castigating the sensibilities of the Governor of Ebonyi State and Chairman, South East Governors’ Forum, Engineer David Nweze Umahi.”
“In that ill-fated post, the notable voice in the wilderness chose to denigrate the hard-earned reputation of our multiple Star cum performing Governor for not towing his path of insulting and casting aspersions on the person of President Muhammadu Buhari.”
“Ordinarily, we wouldn’t be responding to this diatribe comment but considering that it came from a supposed statesman, it is now necessary to talk sense into his draining encephalon in order not to misguide the malleable reading Public.”
“First, Governor Umahi while featuring on Channels Television Programme on Monday spoke on a range of issues of crucial National concern including the incessant herders-farmers clashes wherein he restated the earlier consensus of Southern Governors on their ban of open grazing in the region as well as his declaration of “power belonging to the people.”
“Governor Umahi, however, did not mince words in telling the Federal Government and Nigerians, in general, the bitter truth including his recommendation for the adoption of administrative restructuring that would allow each of the region to develop their various regions according to their peculiarities. What Umahi refuse to do was abusing Mr. President, this he never did when he has not switched to All Progressive Congress as it is not in his character to abuse leaders.”
“It, therefore, becomes unclear what Omokri meant when he accused Umahi of singing Buhari’s praise. What is singing praise? By Saturday, the southeast Governors will meet with the leaders and youths of the zone, and the reasons for their agitations will be articulated and transmitted to the federal government.”
“In as much as it is not in the gene of the Nweze Umahi’s family to rain insult on elders and Leaders as Omokri would have loved, Mr. President does not deserve castigation, supposing Umahi were to be in the business of hate speech against leaders.”
“We, therefore, challenge Reno Omokri to come out clean and make his mission clear to the general public instead of hiding under flimsy and insignificant assumptions to darken counsel without knowledge.”
“The General Public is therefore advised to disregard the lone voice of the deranging Omokri whose opinion has already been visited by deserving unsupportive responses from his audience.”
