A yet to be identified gunmen on Friday afternoon killed a police man at Afara Prison, Abia State, IGBERE TV reports.
IGBERE TV gathered that the unknown gunmen stormed the Prison in a broad day light, shooting sporadically.
Speaking with IGBERE TV on the condition of anonymity, an eyewitness said the heavily armed gunmen engaged the Nigerian soldiers in a gun battle in Umuahia which made residents of the area to scamper for safety.
According to him, “As I am speaking with you, people are running in Umuahia, there is heavy shooting.”
“Unknown gunmen and soldiers are in gun battle. The unknown gunmen stormed the area in a broad day light before the soldiers arrived.”
“They killed one policeman at Afara Prison. I don’t know what South East is turning to. May God save us.”
As at the time of filing this report, efforts to speak Abia State Police Command proved abortive as calls and text messages sent were not replied.
