Israel vs Palestine: "We're Deeply Concerned", Buhari Urges Parties to Respect Human Rights

President Muhammadu Buhari has finally reacted to the war between Palestine and Israel which have claimed 83 lives.

In a statement made available to IGBERE TV by Ferdinand Nwonye, Spokesperson Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday, Buhari said his government is deeply concerned about the war.

President Buhari urged both parties to see reason and de-escalate the hostilities.

The statement reads,

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to state that the Federal Government of Nigeria is watching with great concern, the unfolding developments in Israel and the State of Palestine and urges both parties to see reason and de-escalate the hostilities.”

“The Nigerian Government further urges the two parties to remain committed to the two-state solution and, in the meantime, guarantee the rights of all citizens to live in peace and dignity.”

Recall that Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz has ordered a “massive reinforcement” of security forces to help contain the deadly internal violence that has rocked mixed Jewish and Arab communities across the country.

“We are in an emergency situation due to the national violence and it is now necessary to have a massive reinforcement of forces on the ground, and they are to be sent immediately to enforce law and order,” he said.

The security forces will include Israel’s border police, a force that operates largely in the occupied West Bank.

The death toll in Gaza Strip rose to 83, including 17 children, per a local health ministry report. Nearly 500 other people have been wounded as the attacks continue.
