A yet to be identified gunmen on Monday night killed four soldiers at a checkpoint in Ebonyi State, IGBERE TV has learnt.
Speaking with IGBERE TV correspondent on the condition of anonymity, a resident of the state said the ugly incident happened at Timber Junction area, in the Afikpo North Local Government Area.

According to our source, “we are afraid as these unknown gunmen shot sporadically before killing the soldiers”.
“Some residents have fled the community as I’m speaking with you over fear of reprisal attack.”
“They were attacked at about 8: 30 pm as their riffles were carted away by the unknown gunmen. Other soldiers at the Checkpoint ran inside the bush for safety.”
As at the time of filing this report, efforts to speak with Ebonyi State Police Command proved abortive.
