Delta State Contingent Wins 20th National Sports Festival, Sets To Host The 21st Edition.

Delta State contingent at the just concluded National Sports Festival in Edo State have emerged the 2021 winners and have also won the rights to host the 21st edition.

Mr. Sunday Dare, Minister for Youths and Sports Development, made the announcement at the closing ceremony of the festival in Benin on Wednesday.

Dare, who was represented by Nebeolisa Anako, the permanent secretary of the ministry, said the state emerged top after the selection process.

“After a rigorous exercise, from last year 2020 where six states expressed interests to host the NSF, the big heart, Delta State, came tops. Therefore, the next NSF will be held in 2022 in Delta State”, he said.

Meanwhile, Delta defended their title as champions of Edo 2020 with 384 medals. A total of 158 gold, 116 silver and 110 bronze.

Edo emerged second with 341 medals; 129 gold, 104 silver and 108 bronze while Bayelsa grabbed 169 medals (56 gold, 55 silver and 58 bronze) to place third in all competitions.
