There is a huge air of anxiety in Owerri, Imo State capital, as inmates have broken out enmasse from the Imo State Correctional Facility as well as a wing of the State Criminal Investigative Department.
What seems almost impossible started around 3 a.m. on Easter Monday, when a section of the State CID was engulfed in fire and leading to panic situation.
Before the situation could be arrested, a large number of inmates have escaped from their cells and this caused alot of commotion in the area.
IgbereTv cannot verify if it was the escaped inmates from the State CID that facilitated the release of the their counterpart in the State’s Correctional Facility.
For now, every person living in Imo State is urged to be on a red alert and move with any form of identification as a total manhunt is declared.
