Group Seeks Secondus Resignation Over Alleged Adoption Of Adeleke

A group under the aegis of Osun PDP legacy group has berated the National chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, over his alleged favoritism to Senator Ademola Adeleke as regards the 2022 governorship ticket in the state.

In a statement issued at Osogbo by the convener of the group,Funso Babatunde and made available to IgbereTv, the group regretted the rumour making round that the National leadership of the party under Secondus have ceded the party 2022 gubernatorial ticket in the state to Adeleke.

Continuing, they said that Secondus, who was represented at an event at the state party Secretariat, ought to have made efforts to unite the party than take action capable of factionalizing the party further.

They therefore call on the National chairman of the party to resign immediately for making inflammatory remarks and warned him to desist from divisive comments that could polarize the party more.

However, the deputy national publicity secretary, Prince Diran Oyeyemi, who represented the National chairman at the event, said his statement was taken out of context, adding that Secondus never ceded party ticket to Adeleke.

“As a party, PDP is offering Senator Ademola Adeleke the opportunity, having done well on the ballot the last time and he has the right to accept or decline.

“Till now, no one else, including Ogunbiyi that contested primary with him the last time has shown interest. It is only Adeleke that we are looking at presently.

“But having said this, we are not closing our door against others that are interested in vying for the PDP ticket. Any one that is interested can join the race.”
