This was disclosed in a statement made available to IGBERE TV, on Monday February 8, in Umuahia, endorsed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem.

He said the tricycle operators have 48 hours, from the day of this announcement, to register and/or validate their membership with the associations.

They are to validate their membership with either the Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Abia state chapter or Allied Tricycle Riders Integrated Welfare Association (ATRIWA).

The Abia state government warned that the TOAN and ATRIWA are the only Abia government accredited and organized “keke” transport groups in the state.

The statement further directed the Ministry of Transport and all security agencies to ensure strict compliance to the directive “as defaulters will face the full weight of the law.”
