Ikpeazu Condoles With Governor Udom And Akwa Ibom People On The Death Of 4 Of Their Prominent Sons
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has tasked Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel to draw courage and strenght from God’s word at difficult and challenging times, IgbereTV reports.
Governor Ikpeazu said this today at Government House Uyo when he paid a condolence visit to the Governor and People of Akwa Ibom State on the death of four of their very prominent sons, who died within the first month of this year.
The Governor described the deaths of these men in quick succession as very sad and disturbing, especially considering the fact that they were men with lots of experience who had served and are still rendering service to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Former Military Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (Rtd), who also served as the Director General of the Campaign Organization of Governor Udom Emmanuel in the 2015 and 2019 elections, former Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Nsikak Eduok (Rtd), the State Chairman of the PDP, Hon Udo Ekpeyong and the State Commissioner for Lands, Arc. Ime Ekpo all died within the month of January 2021.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu expressed his personal condolences and those of the entire government and people of Abia State to Governor Emmanuel and prayed God to console the families of these deceased men. The Governor used the opportunity also, to appreciate Governor Emmanuel for the solid infrastructure he is providing for his people and the various job opportunities he has consistently opened for his people.
Responding, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State welcomed Governor Ikpeazu and his entourage to Akwa Ibom State, saying that the visit has brought huge comfort and strength to him. He described Governor Ikpeazu as a close personal friend of his, with whom he shares a lot in common, even outside the confines of politics and governance.
He described the death of these men as most devastating and almost inexplicable but that as Christians, we must continue to turn to God’s word for support at times like this.
The Governor also invited Governor Ikpeazu to the funeral of the Late Air Commodore Nkanga this weekend.
Governor Ikpeazu later endorsed the Condolence Register.
Governor Ikpeazu was accompanied on the visit by the Executive Chairman of Obingwa LGA, Hon. Micheal Ibe Nwoke and the President of the Goodseed Group, Elder Raymond Aliga.
