JUST IN!!! Senate Chief Whip, Kalu Mourns NADECO Chieftain, Ndubuisi Kanu

Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Kalu has described the passing of former Chairman of National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu (rtd) as a big loss to Ndigbo and Nigeria at large, Igbere TV reports.

While stressing that the deceased was one of the few prominent Nigerians that fought for the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria, Kalu called on the political class to emulate the worthy legacies of the late statesman.


Extolling the virtues of the deceased, the Chief Whip of the Senate noted that the late retired naval officer was humble, dogged, courageous and fair in his pursuits in public service.

In a condolence message, Kalu commiserated with Ndigbo and in particular the people and government of Abia state over the demise of the retired naval officer.

He said, “I received with the pain the news of the passing of a leading light in Igboland and former Chairman of NADECO, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kalu (rtd).

“The late statesman contributed immensely to the enthronement and sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.

“The democracy Nigerians are enjoying today is attributed to the efforts of the deceased and a few others.

“The late retired naval officer lived a fulfilled life dedicated to national service and humanity.

“He has left indelible footprints in the annals of Nigeria’s democracy , owing to his remarkable, unbeatable and historic good deeds.

“The late statesman will sorely be missed for his counsel at the community, sub-national and national levels”.

The former governor while praying to God to repose the soul of Admiral Kanu (rtd), urged the Kanu family to uphold the good legacies of their late patriarch.
