Gov. Ikpeazu Declares Friday Public Holiday In Abia

Ahead of local government elections holding in Abia state, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has declared Friday, 18th December 2020, a public holiday.

In a statement made available to IGBERE TV by Chief John Okiyi Kalu, Commissioner For Information, said
movement of persons and goods shall be restricted within the state from midnight of Thursday, 17th December, 2020 with only staff of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), security agents, media practitioners and others on essential duties exempted.

 

According to the statement, “We wish to call on citizens and visitors alike to ensure the maintenance of peace, law and order before, during and after the election.”
